Austrian aid organizations working in Ukraine:
Caritas employees are already setting up aid centers for internally displaced persons at various bases in Ukraine. Around 1,000 helpers are on duty. The supply of water, hygiene items, food and heating material as well as psychosocial support and medical care are the top priority. You can finance ready-made aid packages from Caritas from 25 euros. IBAN: AT23 2011 1000 0123 4560 (password: emergency aid Ukraine) or online.
As in any war, children are particularly vulnerable. The organization SOS Children's Villages is also currently putting together emergency packages and is ready to take in 50,000 people. With a donation you can help with the evacuation, the construction of emergency shelters, the supply of food and hygiene articles as well as the provision of psychological emergency aid and the accommodation of refugee families in Austria. IBAN: AT62 1600 0001 0117 3240 (password: Ukraine) or online.
The Diakonie also started its disaster relief for the Ukraine. Together with project partners in the neighboring countries of Poland, Hungary and Moldova, emergency aid for war refugees is being expanded. Donate to the Diakonie account, IBAN: AT07 2011 1800 8048 8500 or online.
The ORF is also involved with the aid organization Neighbor in Need. Water, food, hygiene items, medical care and heating material are organized here. IBAN: AT21 2011 1400 4004 4003 (password: Help for Ukraine) or online.
In addition, the organization Doctors Without Borders, which has been on site since 1999, is expanding its teams in order to be able to provide medical aid to the population. Especially along the front lines and also in Russia, the doctors are still on duty to help civilians. "It is essential that access to health care is guaranteed and that medical facilities are protected in accordance with international law," explains MSF Austria's Managing Director, Laura Leser. You can help the medical teams here: IBAN: AT43 2011 1289 2684 7600 and online.
The international children's aid organization World Vision is also expanding its emergency aid activities, specifically on the Ukrainian-Romanian border. World Vision has been supporting children and their families who have fled to Romania since the beginning of the war. According to the organization, the first deliveries of food and medical supplies have now reached a hospital in southern Ukraine. Child protection centers are now being set up around the Romanian city of Siret, if necessary in the Ukraine itself and in Moldova. World Vision can be supported via the IBAN: AT22 2011 1800 8008 1800 – more information is also available online.
The Chamber of Pharmacists and the Chamber of Physicians takes care of the delivery of medicines directly to Ukrainian health facilities. Anyone who wants to help can therefore transfer donations to "Pharmacists Without Borders Austria" - IBAN: AT26 1813 0813 7028 0000. With the help of these donations, the organizations then order the medicines they need from pharmaceutical wholesalers. Wholesalers, on the other hand, deliver directly to Ukraine. There, the drugs are then given to hospitals, surgeries or other health facilities, according to the chambers. This procedure has also been agreed with the Ukrainian Ministry of Health. More information is available online.
